Roger Woodward - Concert in Brisbane, Australia

Stoliarsky Concert

Toowoomba people were in the audience when internationally-acclaimed pianist, Roger Woodward, gave a solo recital in Brisbane on Sunday.

Mr. Woodward played preludes by Debussy and mazurkas, a polonaise and waltzes by Chopin, to an audience of 200 at the Stoliarsky School of Music, in the suburb of Hill End.

It was announced that Mr. Woodward had affiliated himself with the school and would teach there when in Australia. He conducted master classes at the Stoliarsky school last week. It is believed to be the only school in the world at which he teaches.

Mr. Woodward said he made the decision to join the school partly for the high regard he had for school principal Mark Lakirovich and, his brother, Jacob, who is director of studies.

He described Mark and Jacob as the two best violinists in Australia.

The Stoliarsky School of Music has a concert in Toowoomba under consideration for August.
